“Will the Pro4 record the short video clips like my Pro 2 when activated by motion without a subscription? These clips are available for a week and I can download to my photo library. If so, would the hub be necessary for this?”

No, a hub is not necessary to store clips as long as you have an Arlo Secure subscription. This camera comes with a 90-day free subscription. After that the current subscription price for 1 camera is $2.99/month.

When the trial expires, you have the option to purchase an Arlo Secure or Arlo Secure Plus subscription. Without an Arlo Secure subscription, you can still add multiple cameras to your Arlo account, live stream, and receive motion and audio notifications. This camera can connect directly to your wifi network but when connected to a supported Arlo SmartHub you may setup local storage feature as detailed here : https://kb.arlo.com/1146857/. ^RM
