“I have a couple different models, Arlo Pro 2 being the latest. I use it to check up on the animals in the field/barn and zooming in for any close up seems to distort the view greatly. Anyone have experience going from the Pro 2 to Pro 4 and zoom quality”

Arlo Pro 4 is 2000k and you can zoom in and quite clear. You can also turn on the automatic track and zoom. It will follow a vehicle or person.
