• We have a medium sized dog (50lbs) and a small dog (6lbs) and they do set off the motion when we let them into the back yard.

• Mine have been set off by birds. The sensitivity is adjustable, so I bet you could set it so that small animals don't set it off. I have one that points partly into the street and was able to adjust it so passing cars do not set it off.

• Yes and its pretty cool I think but you can adjust the sensitivity if it is too much. I think you will love them. I do.
