We just used the onboard / internal speakers, didn't need to hookup any external speakers. The volume is loud enough & clear enough without headphones. Bought this for one purpose, and don't need excel for that, so can't help you with that.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it has speakers but you can use headphones too. Will not run excel unless you have office365 and can use the browser version of excel. Google Sheets works though.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, the Chromebook does have internal speakers. Google Sheets, an excel program is integrated within the Google account. A license for Microsoft 365 needs to be purchased in order to install MS Excel.
