My Asus dvd r/w is installed in my desk top system. I do not have laptops and do not know if it is possible to hard wire the two. The unit uses power from the power supply and a sata cable to the mother board.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The dvd writer you asked about is a internal only unit. It is not designed to work with a laptop. You need a dvd writer made for external use. Asus makes two models for external dvd writer. They are the sdrw-08d25-u and sdrw-08u7m-u.
