Yes, the RAM is upgradeable, but I tentatively have to modify my prior answer. First a typo, the cheap model has the 6700S graphics and the more expensive model has the 6800S graphics (and neither have the Anime case). The prior conjecture was that the cheaper one with 6700S graphics comes with 8 GB soldered and an 8 GB DDR5 stick, whereas the expensive model with 6800S graphics comes with 16 GB soldered and an empty DDR5 slot. While the cheaper model does indeed come with 8 GB soldered and an 8 GB DDR5 stick, I have to replace that earlier conjecture with "we don't know for sure" since it is unclear what the memory arrangement is in the more expensive model. Why don't we know? Because it's not clear whether Best Buy's description is accurate, and they make a lot of mistakes. We won't know for sure until somebody buys the expensive model and upgrades the RAM themselves (or has Geek Squad do it and asks the question when done). And there's 7 screws (some under rubber feet) holding the back in place, so it's not for the feint of heart. The reason we thought (or may still think) that the expensive model with 6800S graphics comes with just a 16 GB soldered and an empty slot is not only that it makes more sense (since if you can afford the better grahics then you probably want to upgrade your RAM too and why hobble your poor customer by soldering-in only 8 GB), but also that reviews of the 6800S graphics model online state that their sample came with 32 GB, namely a 16 GB soldered and a 16 GB stick in the slot. But now I see that the Information section for both models on the Best Buy web sight says "16GB (8GB + 8GB) of dual-channel memory significantly increases performance" for both the cheaper model and the more expensive model. In other words, if true, that statement implies that both models come with 8 GB soldered plus an 8 GB stick. Now the problem is that Best Buy make lots of mistakes. So the question is, is this a mistake in Best Buy describing the memory for the more expensive model, or is it the truth? Again, we won't know til someone gambles on the more expensive model and tries the RAM upgrade. It could be that Best Buy ordered their own custom models from Asus with (always) 8 GB soldered and an 8 GB stick. This has the advantage of being dual-channel as sold. But it kinda messes up the people buying the more expensive model, most of whom would have preferred it to come with only 16 GB soldered, so that they can use it with hobbled memory initially and then later on when DDR5 memory comes down in price, add a 16 GB stick to get 32 GB total of dual-channel memory. This would be "lack of visionary" on Best Buy's part, but would not be surprising. So re memory, we know what gives on the cheaper model, but on the more expensive model with 6800S graphics, we await a verified purchaser doing a memory upgrade to enlighten us.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.the best buy specs sheet states that this model only upgrades to 24GB ram. that means there is only 8gb soldered on the board with another 8 gig stick in the ram slot. you could try 32gb stick in the extra slot but I wouldn't recommend goi9ng over the max ram.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, the RAM is upgradeable. The unit comes with 8G on board and one RAM slot which comes with 8GB stick, which is upgradeable to 16GB for a total of 24GB.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Mine came with 16 ram expandible to 32, and ryzen 6900 hs. But I payed 2000 dollars with taxes, so it was the most expensive of the models (it doesn't came with the Animatrix neither, that were another 500 dollars more...
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The 6800S comes with 8gb on board (soldered) AND 8gb SO-DIMM which can be upgraded to 24gb. So it DOES come with 16gb, but only one stick (the SO-DIMM) is able to be upgraded.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Wait so the 16G comes soldered on the board? That’s great news
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The RAM is upgradable on both the cheaper model (generally IDed by the 6700S graphics) and also on the more expensive model (generally IDed by the 6700S graphics). In regard to the question-answerer who stated "Wait so the 16G comes soldered on the board? That’s great news," my claim is that yes, we think that's true for the more expensive model, anyway - leaving an empty DIMM slot for you to optionally fill. When Best Buy gets enough of these sold, it would be nice if a tech-minded purchases could actually confirm this conjecture. But for the 16 GB that comes with the cheaper model, we are pretty darn sure that that 16 GB comes as 8 GB soldered plus an 8 GB stick in the DIMM slot. So it depends on which model you're talking about. To complicate things, I strongly suspect that Best Buy shares its comments sections among multiple similar models - making it such that good-minded people are sometimes giving right answers for a given model that are wrong for a different model, but Best Buy in its infinite stupidity pools these all together to confuse the customer. You can see this from the fact that the Reviews still have complaints about last year's model that have been fixed in this year's model, so that the review scores are tankd by left-over garbage from out-of-date reviews.
