A:AnswerYes, the RAM is upgradeable, but I tentatively have to modify my prior answer. First a typo, the cheap model has the 6700S graphics and the more expensive model has the 6800S graphics (and neither have the Anime case).
The prior conjecture was that the cheaper one with 6700S graphics comes with 8 GB soldered and an 8 GB DDR5 stick, whereas the expensive model with 6800S graphics comes with 16 GB soldered and an empty DDR5 slot.
While the cheaper model does indeed come with 8 GB soldered and an 8 GB DDR5 stick, I have to replace that earlier conjecture with "we don't know for sure" since it is unclear what the memory arrangement is in the more expensive model. Why don't we know? Because it's not clear whether Best Buy's description is accurate, and they make a lot of mistakes. We won't know for sure until somebody buys the expensive model and upgrades the RAM themselves (or has Geek Squad do it and asks the question when done). And there's 7 screws (some under rubber feet) holding the back in place, so it's not for the feint of heart.
The reason we thought (or may still think) that the expensive model with 6800S graphics comes with just a 16 GB soldered and an empty slot is not only that it makes more sense (since if you can afford the better grahics then you probably want to upgrade your RAM too and why hobble your poor customer by soldering-in only 8 GB), but also that reviews of the 6800S graphics model online state that their sample came with 32 GB, namely a 16 GB soldered and a 16 GB stick in the slot.
But now I see that the Information section for both models on the Best Buy web sight says "16GB (8GB + 8GB) of dual-channel memory significantly increases performance" for both the cheaper model and the more expensive model. In other words, if true, that statement implies that both models come with 8 GB soldered plus an 8 GB stick.
Now the problem is that Best Buy make lots of mistakes. So the question is, is this a mistake in Best Buy describing the memory for the more expensive model, or is it the truth? Again, we won't know til someone gambles on the more expensive model and tries the RAM upgrade.
It could be that Best Buy ordered their own custom models from Asus with (always) 8 GB soldered and an 8 GB stick. This has the advantage of being dual-channel as sold. But it kinda messes up the people buying the more expensive model, most of whom would have preferred it to come with only 16 GB soldered, so that they can use it with hobbled memory initially and then later on when DDR5 memory comes down in price, add a 16 GB stick to get 32 GB total of dual-channel memory. This would be "lack of visionary" on Best Buy's part, but would not be surprising.
So re memory, we know what gives on the cheaper model, but on the more expensive model with 6800S graphics, we await a verified purchaser doing a memory upgrade to enlighten us.
A:AnswerPrevious versions of the G14 with 32GB were not sold at Best Buy, so I honestly don't expect that to change. Looking at various online reviews, the version with Animatrix LEDs and 32GB seem to retail at around $2,499. Comparing the currently available G14 with the 6700S GPU at $1,649, I would expect the 6800S 32GB model (without Animatrix) to possibly retail at least at $1,999.
Short answer, this ain't it.
A:AnswerTook me a little bit of research but I finally found the answer to your question, this laptop is not HDMI 2.1 compatible, it does have a HDMI port but that is only 2.0b which means it can only go up to 4k @60hz. Now that being said it does have display port 1.4 also this can do a lot more like 4k @120hz and 8k @60hz, so if you want to use those resolutions you would have to use the display port.
A:AnswerYeah its crazy, but there are no other shortcomings power is going to be the same, as far as I can tell. And according to the ASUS store the screen is the same on all 2022 models.
So maybe your talking about last years QHD models? Yes the QHD is better it offers better color gamut so more vibrant colors.
A:AnswerThere will not be any different panel options. All models come with the very good new display - they went to a 16:10 aspect ratio this year that is 1600p not 1440p. This is an improvement over last year's models. And probably fixes some (but maybe not all??) of color bleeding problems in previous years' models. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth,
There will be no DDR4 RAM. All DDR5 RAM. The faster Zen 3+ architecture needs the speed. If you want DDR4, find a deal on last year's model.
A:AnswerNote that I had to modify my yesterday answer to another similar question, and thus I need to edit this one too.
It seems we are certain that the cheaper model with 6700S graphics does have 8 GB soldered plus an 8 GB stick,
But whether that is also true of the more expensive model with 6800S graphics remains an open question as of the end of April.
I just noticed that Best Buy web side actually states for both models that they are 8 GB soldered plus 8 GB stick. But we still don't know for sure if that is true on the more expensive model. Best Buy does a lot of copy-n-paste from one ad to another, and in so doing makes mistakes.
To many of us, it makes much more sense to put 16 GB soldered plus an empty DDR5 slot on the more expensive model, since we definitely intend to upgrade it to 16 + 16 = 32 GB, and that would give us dual-channel 32 GB - which is the end goal for just about anybody who can afford the more expensive model, in our opintion. But we don't know for sure what Best Buy asked Asus to provide them. It might be that their web site is not a typo, and both models are limited to 8 GB or 16 GB or 24 GB, etc.
If the latter is indeed the case for both models, then it appears you lose dual-channel on any memory upgrade for either model (unless dual-channel is somehow more foregiving in DDR5, a rumor I have not heard).
A:Answerit does, however not currently (May 2022) available via American best buy warehouses (different grey models available at Canadian best buy) or asus directly. Different regions are having much different specs available to them currently but eventually at an unknown time all will be available directly from asus and possibly here.
A:AnswerI recall that 2020 G14 with the Ryzen 9 4900HS and RTX 3060 was at least $1600 when it launched. This new model has a 25% faster CPU, a 25-40% faster GPU, a 120hz 2560x1600 screen without last year's ghosting issue, and a 1TB PCIe gen 4 SSD. All this for $300 more in a time where material costs are skyrocketing and the value of the US dollar is collapsing.
