• Hello, this is only a Router, if you are going to have Internet service for the first time, you are going to need a MODEM, you can buy yours or your ISP can give / rent it to you. For today's and future standards, I would recommend a MODEM with DOCSIS 3.1.

• I am not sure I am a definitive resource, however, I don't think it is a combo. Whether needed or not, I do have a modem that Spectrum sent. This router was purchased to replace the piece of junk router that I returned to Spectrum.
