There is an Android app titled PDANet with an associated Windows client. It supports both wireless and tethered (USB cable). It allows you to use your phone as a hotspot without enabling said feature with your provider. My carrier is Sprint and they have never restricted or throttled back my data when using PDA Net. If I recall correctly, it's less than ten bucks. Easy to setup also.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can use the adapter on your desktop for wireless connection to your cell phone after your phone is configured as a hotspot. Just keep in mine if you have a limited data plan this may not be a good option if you use the internet a lot. I lost my internet connection for a week and almost maxed my 16GB plan when I did the above configuration for my son to access his college site. Hope this helps.

Please be aware however that most carriers that i am aware of restrict the amount of data that one may use on a tethered plan. The cost for more data for such purpose can far exceed the cost of basic cable internet service. If you had mentioned your actual phone model and carrier i could give you instructions but there is this thing called google. use it and search for tethering x phone with y service (x being your model phone and y being your carrier..ie..att tmobile verizon)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Make sure your phone is working as a hot spot. Be sure your WiFi Adapter is installed on your PC. You should see your hot spot in just the same way as you do any other Internet wireless service. Connect as usual using the hot spot's password.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.First off. Your cell phone service provider has to have your service as hot spot ready/available (usually costs extra if not part of your plan). After you have the service running on your phone plan, open up and activate your personal Hotspot on your phone. Once that is going, connect your PC the exact same way you did to WiFi at home or on the go as usual. Beware, most phone services limit the amount of data you can use each month. The best one I have personally seen was with t-mobile. And that will only get you about 1.5 to 2 hours of movie time PER MONTH.
