Good question that is why I bought this DVD Drive, currently the DVD's I burn will only play on the DVD drive / Computer and not on the DVD player

this would depend on the type of file your video is and whether your DVD player is capable of playing that file type. as an alternative you can use an hdmi cord to connect your computer to a tv so you can watch your home movies on a larger screen.
