We use the base at one end of the house on the ground floor. One portable is about 60 feet away on the second floor. Seems to work fine. House is typical wood frame construction, composite shingles, with little to no metal in structure, other than plumbing. One feature that would be nice would be the ability to use the intercom with fewer button or menu selections. The intercom function is complex to use for an elderly person. But the phone works well.
