• Yes it can. I recently signed up for XFINITY home phone service and gave up my "grandma" land line. Once my phone service was changed to XFINITY and activated, all I had to do was plug my base unit into the "Tel 1" jack of my router. The phone and the three handsets I added to the system work fine. Just one other point: XFINITY phone service or any other phone services that connect to a router will not work in a power cut unless you get a battery backup for your router.
