As depicted in the photo, it is a coiled hand cord. In the coiled "mode" it is approximately 17 inches long. It can stretch out to more than 4 feet in length. The phone itself is not heavy, like the old AT&T units. So, if one tries stretching it to its full length, the possibility of pulling the telephone off its surface looms large.
