“Is there an indicator which tells you you have a voice mail message other than the screen saying "1 new message" ?”

I got the unit and found the answer. There is NO LIGHTED indicator that you have a message. MAJOR deficiency in this product

There is an audible beep about every 10 seconds and a flashing red light when you have a new message that hasn't been listened to yet.

Set the unit to beep announcing you have messages. You determine the frequency of.beeps and the machine will beep until you turn it off. When you hear beeps you know you have a voicemail message instead of having to check the screen.
