The answer is yes, but you must first purchase a monthly data plan to provide internet through the hotspot device. When purchasing online it should give you the option to begin 4G data service with the service provider (AT&T), so if you set up the data plan at the time of online purchase then it should come ready to use right out of the box. Once you have set up your data plan on the hotspot device you will be able to connect almost any other device to it and get internet service on those devices.

There are a number of hotspots for sale which are compatible with specific computers -- for example is you are connected to AT&T you should have purchased Netgear. If connected to Verizon, you will need the hotspot it recommends. purchased at its store whose technies will have the expertise to set it up for your computer, email etc. Since I have AT&T, I purchase Netgear at a AT&T store and the technie has the information needed to connected with connect it with my email, etc. Thus if there are problems, I can visit any AT&T store to have it resolved. Bottom line: while I may purchase electronics on line, since the connection with your computer can be unique, I recommend purchasing it at the store comparable to AT&T or Verizon -- especially if this is your first time purchase of a hotspot.
