I live in a very rural part of Lehigh Acres and generally get little connection in the area. I get around -104 to -108 dbm on my phone in the house so signal quality isnt the best but I speedtest this on my laptop and got 31mbs DL and like 4mbs upload on the AT&T network with 2-3 bar reception. Works playing netflix without a hitch even at 1 bar reception. Note that if you are buying this for the reason I did though, which is to game online on Xbox One, then you might be a bit disappointed. Currently I havn't found a way to get around the problem of having both a Strict NAT and double NAT concurrently. I would recommend that if you buy this product for gaming on the go or need this to have internet that you research how to fix this issue.

Great Hotspot for My BlackVue DR900S

I purchased this bad boy to connect my dash cam (BlackVue DR900S 2CH) over the cloud when I’m in parking mode. I am able to have live view of my vehicle’s front and rear cameras plus auto event upload if my vehicle is struck while parked. My cellular service provider on this device is TMobile (2gigs $10, must have voice plan plus auto pay for this pricing). Becareful Watching video over the cloud. This will use up your data quickly. You must consider the settings you will enable on your dash cam in correspondence to the data plan you purchase. Please note this device is locked to ATT. The unlock process was very simple. No need to call ATT Tier 2/3 support. Simply use the following website and within 48 hours you will receive a response with specific instructions on how to enter the provided unlock code. https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/#/. Your device must be paid for in full of course (no financing) and no you don’t have to be an ATT customer. Over all I am please with my purchase. Any questions feel free to ask.

    Rural Home Internet User

This is one of two hotspots in my connected home arsenal, the other being an Inseego 8800L with Verizon. I live in a rural area without access to DSL, cable Internet, or fiber. Satellite would be my only alternative to cellular, and satellite is garbage for VoIP, Zoom, MS Teams, and work VPN due to the extreme latency. And if you live out in the boonies or are using this in an RV/boat, you know that carrier redundancy is important to maintaining an always on capability. Fortunately, I’ve got AT&T and Verizon towers in close proximity to home. I’m using a T-Mobile SIM in this hotspot, but the plan actually hits an AT&T tower due to their roaming agreements. The hotspot does come locked to AT&T, so I needed to pay a vendor for the unlock code. Having a device that leverages the AT&T LTE bands was optimal since I’m hitting against their tower. At best, I achieve 80Mbps down/20Mbps up, meets my needs. When it gets hot, it does stop charging automatically. I make it a point to unplug the USB-C cable periodically to allow for the battery to drain and then recharge, and provide for a cooling opportunity. However, I have read that you can remove the battery and power this thing dedicated on high powered USB-C. I am going to try that out to avoid battery swell and overheating. It gets the job done. I’m always on with work VPN and connected devices. When the network slows down between 10 AM and 2 PM each weekday due to network congestion, I move my traffic over to the Verizon jetpack I mentioned earlier. I do appreciate that it has an ethernet cable which I have directly plugged into the WAN port on my router. This shaves a tiny bit of latency off the journey. My Inseego on Verizon does not have Ethernet; score for the Netgear Nighthawk. This hotspot will continue to be useful for most users for years to come. It has a category 16 modem (look up the specs - you can theoretically hit 1Gbps down, 150Mbps up in the real world that’ll never happen, but it looks great on paper). LTE networks will not be decommissioned simply because 5G is being brought online. Just think, the carriers are just getting around to sunset their 3G networks end of this year, beginning of next. LTE will probably be operational until 2030. If you need a hotspot to operate on the AT&T network or you have a use case similar to mine, this is a reliable device. I recommend it.

    Amazingly good mobile hotspot

I needed a mobile hotspot for my RV, and this is simply perfect. I'm in a marginal area for LTE - I tried all the carriers, and AT&T is the best, but my phone still normally gets only -113db (one bar). The nighthawk gets two bars, and sustains around 30mbs down and 10mbs up, which is close to what I get over my Spectrum home cable service. The battery is great, and it will run plugged in without the battery if you want 24 hour service. It's dual band wifi, and I can connect throughout my apartment and RV. It's not the router's fault, but I did have terrible problems getting it activated. Best Buy had no one who knew how to activate it, and at the AT&T store, the representative was completely incompetent, activating it on the wrong plan, which did not work. It took an hour on the phone the next day to get it working. AT&T no longer offers an unlimited hotspot plan, but AT&T's reseller OTR Mobile does, and I'm running perfectly on their SIM and service now.

With this hotspot I don't notice when someone else is also using their computer. I cannot say that with my last hotspot. The display is easy to read and it was easy to configure a name and password to manage the device and get online. Kudos to Best Buy: I ordered late on a Friday & rec'd package mid-day on Monday. AT&T SIM card was already installed so I just had to make a quick call to AT&T and the device was ready, Thumbs up to Best Buy for not raising the price while only essential worker orders were being implemented, when AT&T was out of stock and prices for the same device on other sites jumped.

I've tried several hotspots over the years because I often need to do work remotely. I've never really been happy with the results because I don't live in an area with great coverage. In spite of the low signal amplitude in my area, this device performed flawlessly. I also love the Ethernet port. I can share the connection on my home network or offload data to save bandwidth while using my hotspot wireless network. I can't wait to try out some of the other features.

    Best Hotspot I’ve Used!

I own a powerful gaming laptop and I also have several other devices that also need a good internet connection. My main one being my new smart TV. This HotSpot is like a wireless internet router on steroids and it’s Portable! When I’m at home I can simply turn on my TV to watch movies and it automatically connects to the Hotspot. Then when I grab my laptop and go on a road trip I just grab the HotSpot , throw it in my laptop case and forget about it. It auto connects to my laptop when I get ready to use it. The battery last 24 hours just like the advertisement claims. This hotspot also has several other cool features that I just can’t explain here. Just do a YouTube search and you’ll see just how awesome this baby is. As far at the actual internet used, well that all depends on the type of service you decide to get for your Hotspot. I personally use an ATT unlimited data plan but you can buy these Hotspots unlocked and that will allow you to use and carrier you wish. Hope this helps!

I upgraded to this from a previous Netgear Hotspot that I used for 5 years. The old one started malfunctioning. Glad I did! It has way more features and functionality. I use my hotspot for road trips and RV trips. This unit not only provides a connection to AT&T LTE, but with the single ethernet port I can plug it into a 4-port switch and use it as a router while on trips! In fact, my Nighthawk R7000 AC1900 home router just died this week, after only 1 year, and I had no internet. I got this gem out, plugged it into an 8-port *switch* on my desk, and all of my computers and devices started connecting to the internet: all 13 of them! Cool! This provided the internet connection I needed to set up a return/exchange with Best Buy to take the AC1900 back and get another one (under 2 year exchange plan). I was gone a couple of hours and when I got back the network was still up and running solely from this hotspot. Very pleased!

Umm let me start off by saying that I don’t usually do reviews.. so don’t take this lightly, and I’ll try to make this short and sweet. So boom, I started driving trucks, and am an avid gamer/movie-anime streamer/ and laptop owner.. I bought the Verizon mifi hotspot, to accommodate my hobbies on down time.. needless to say, thoroughly disappointed with the mbps and speeds.. I bought this little sucker online, ordered a chip from OTR Mobile and it’s been such a great thing since. Hardly any lag, game runs smooth af.. no throttle, Movies rarely ever have to buff.. slow WiFi causes depression.. I’m sure of it lmao.. this has brought a boost to my quality honest.. that’s all .. thanks for coming to my TED talk.. later ;-). Snap- Sirgoldierockx

I recently moved out to a rural area and I didn’t have any internet options besides satellite. Too slow and expensive, and all require a lengthy contract. No thanks. I did some research and decided to give this a try. I bought this at full price and used one of those third-party SIM cards that use the AT&T network. I hooked it up to my old router, and with it just sitting in a temporary spot on a table for a few days while we were unpacking, it was providing a pretty solid 30Mb connection, and everybody’s devices worked as before since the WiFi was all the same. After we were more settled, I moved it to a permanant location by a window and connected it to a $30 Netgear antenna fixed to a window. With a little tweaking that I read about on the web to let you choose which bands to lock on to, it gets a steady 80Mb+ down, 25Mb up. With a $60/mo plan for unlimited, unthrottled service with no contract, this is all I need. If you’re able to get a good tower signal, this will serve you well.

Used this in a rural area, and would definitely recommend it. Picked up a signal with no problem, very easy to set up and stays charged for a long time. Great for use as a hot spot in areas that are difficult to obtain a channel and as backup internet for work or school.

No complaints, easy to setup, fast, simple interface, I have this in a semi complex setup, I have multiple 4G LTE SIMS from different providers setup in a load balanced configuration using SDWAN. Works great, added it to my SDWAN configuration it just worked. I have found that I get better performance on this line than my Verizon 4G LTE SIM plugged into a cradlepoint 850, signal is stronger for Verizon so it seems that the device itself may influence it but there are many variables so hard to say, what I do know is I routinely get close to maximum speed up and down out of this with the ATT LTE SIM. No complaints.

I recently bought this for a few reasons. #1 I run a business and I’m always on the go and I need internet constantly #2 I have kids I take in long car rides #3 I have an RV. I needed an internet solution that wasn’t going to break my pocket and be portable. This has been an excellent solution, reliable and battery last all day, some things to take note of, if it’s hot and charging the battery it will overheat. Didn’t notice any overheating issues when not charging in hot temperatures. Keep this in the open when using so it can get good air flow. Get an external antenna it will help in some areas with poor signal.

I've been using this hotspot for about a month and it's performed surprisingly well. I made this purchase to see if this can replace my home internet and so far so good. This device has dual ts9 ports for external antenna hook up. I have not needed it but I hear this thing can get up to a gigabyte download speeds with the right set up. My download speeds are averaging 80 mbps, uploads are averaging around 11 mbps with a 50 latency, and that's in the basement. This is perfect for streaming and surfing the internet. I'm going to give it another month and then time to cut the cable. I hope this helps in your decision making.

If you are looking to get better internet in rural areas this just could be your answer, it was for me. With DSL was getting 9Mbps Down and 800K Up on centurylink. Now I get at least 20Mbps-100Mbps down and 2Mbps-15Mbps up depending on time of day. Also Ping was 80-110 now 45-65 Have been using for 1 month so far. So it has bee a win win for me in every area.

I love this router and this is the second one that I have purchased. When I got this in the mail today I opened up the box and it didn’t appear to have been opened that I couod tell but I wasn’t paying that close of attention to it. When I got the box opened the package to the battery was open and when I turned the device on it had already had a WiFi name on the network and also the device was SIM card locked and I had to spend a ridiculous amount of time with att to give me the puk code to have it simpin unlocked. They kept telling me that I had to get beat buy to do it for me even tho it had to be done by att tech support. After a few hours I eventually got to someone who knew enough of what they were doing to help me out. Other than that the product it’s self is great and is a lot of money but worth it when you don’t have a isp in yiur area but an att signal.

Great option for people who cannot get cable or other traditional types of internet connection. AT&T plans aren’t as generous as they recently were, but this router works great as long as you have decent cellular signal and will provide coverage for a medium to small house. We can stream on 2-3 screens simultaneously with little problem. Some days I get ~30 mbps download speeds.
