“I have an old iPhone 4 (unlocked, I think). Can I use this card in it? Also, we have a Verizon iPhone 6 used as an iPod. Would this work on it, or do I need to buy a card from Verizon? Does this only work for phone calls or does it enable texting?”

Depends on if the iphone 4 is gsm or cdma, look up the model number. The gsm iphone 6 does not officially support CDMA in the u.s
