Is this the equivalent of my old Technics SL1600? null

No it is not, consider our AT-LP1240-USB Turntable instead. Be aware however that the 1240-USB is a fully MANUAL turntable. There are NO automatic functions such as those found on your fully automatic SL1600. We do not manufacture any automatic turntables at this level of performance at this time. Only our AT-LP60 Series turntables and the AT-LP3 belt-drive turntables have any automatic functions at this time. These both feature auto start and stop, but they do not have the repeat function found on the SL1600. From a build quality and motor quality standpoint, the AT-LP1240-USB Turntable is the closest thing we make to an SL1600.
