Q: Will this work with a regular (1990s) stereo (Analog)?
A: Hi old timer! I started buying LPs in 1957. You can use this unit with your old amp/receiver. It has switch-selectable mag cartridge or line level outputs. However you connected your old turntable, you can connect this one the same way.
Q: Do I also need to purchase a needle?
A: It comes with one that works very well, so no. But I did end up upgrading to a Shure-M77, which gives you a little more range and less record wear. The one it comes with is of very good quality (exceptional if you consider the price of the unit)
A: The unit contains a built-in RIAA-equalized preamp. It is switch-selectable between PHONO and LINE output, the latter being thru the preamp. You don't need an additional preamp.
Q: Do you have to buy speakers seperate?
A: Yes, as this turntable has no built in speaker. But it does have it's own built in amp. So you don't need an individual amp or amp/receiver. But you do have to have a speaker with it's own power source, like computer speaker or some of the larger portable stereo speakers that are out now. The switch on the back of the turntable needs to be switched to 'phono' if you have the RCA plugs out to a receiver/stereo system with an amp. If you are using powered speakers (stand alone) then the switch on the back needs to be switched to 'line out' to utilize the internal amp in the turntable. I plug into a marshall stereo speaker which has it's own power source. Wonderful sounding for a small all in one speaker but a bit pricy. You can get less expensive powered speakers or a good set of computer speakers and plug in via 'line out' from the turn table.

A: Thank you for your inquiry. Yes, the AT-LP120 will connect to a Windows 7 system and you can listen to vinyl albums through your computer speakers. Using Audacity 1.3.14 software you can convert your albums to CD's or mp3 files.
Q: Does this have auto return at the end of play?
A: No this turntable does not have auto return of the arm at the end of record play. It has a lever that raises the arm once record is over then you manually place it back on the arm rest.
