Yes they do. Imagine you buy a Ferrari, fully maxed out, and then you put the cheapest gas imaginable into it. Or you make the most gourmet, top shelf five course meal, and you serve it on styrofoam plates with a plastic fork and knife. Using high quality, clean signal, to send data from your disc changer to your $3000 receiver can be the biggest difference between an okay setup, and a superb setup.
