This is a new lock, and it is part of the 3rd generation of locks. Its only drawback is the lack of baked in HOMEKIT support.. To access the lock while away you will need the connect, or August Doorbell. As with the other 3rd gen it has door sense which works well except if the door is closed but not closed enough to have the bolt catch. I have two and like them a lot just wish it had Homekit as I'm tired of all of the required hubs with the Internet of things devices. I have the doorbell also with the expectation that it will gain Homekit soon. The lock pairs with the doorbell the door bell connects to wifi and gives you some control of the lock while away.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I believe it is a third-generation smart lock but this model in particular has great limitations that you should be aware of, the lock only works via Bluetooth ... in other words is not compatible with Apple Home nor can it be operated via wifi. I called support and they say this particular model runs at a lower price because of this.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.3rd generation easy to install and works via blue tooth. You will need the WiFi adapter to operate away from home.
