• You have to have an internet subscription and a router allows you to broadcast the internet connection as WiFi.

• This device takes the signal from your internet provider (via an ethernet cable) and creates a wifi network for your household with password protection. When you plug the ethernet cable from your modem to this device and connect your computer or laptop to the Belkin router with another ethernet cable you can set up your own wifi network. The Geek Squad at Best Buy can assist you.

• Hello. If you are referring to Internet connection via wireless connection, then you still need an Internet plan along with the provided modem or modem-router from the Internet Service Provider.
