• 1.5 inches wide each one, and don’t know about the defrost, haven’t tried that.

• Each slot is 1 1/2 x 5 1/2. Does it defrost bread? Unsure if I understand your question...dont they all?

• The slots are 1 1/2 in wide by 5 1/4 inch long. Big enough to toast bagels. If you are talking about frozen bagels and Pop-Tarts and such, yes it will defrost. I have never actually put a piece of frozen bread in the toaster.
