• Yes but it is so easy to clean I wouldn't bother It may disrupt the air flow as well.

• I heard of someone putting parchment paper in it, must work if it's used on cookie sheets in a hot oven.

• I haven't tried that, I've just wiped out the bottom & tray with a paper towel. It also shows that the two are dishwasher safe.
