A knife w/ a serrated would be easier. if that is too difficult, buy a bread slicer, like they use in bakeries.

I bought a bread loaf holder with a slicing guide. It is clear plastic and shrinks down from a loaf to a half loaf as you use the bread. The slicing guide is included. It has slots for your bread knife. Perfect slices, but you cannot adjust the thickness of the slice.
