Comes with a re-usable filter - but as many people will tell you -- that is based on your preference whether to use paper filters or not. 

It should use standard 8" paper filters just fine. 

Depending on the grind of the coffee, some people complain of "sludge" in their coffee when using a re-usable type filter. The use of paper filters in these situations almost always clears this problem up.
