It is unlikely that a home network will be operating at a higher throughput than this currently. It is an Ethernet connector which can be used in the RJ45 jack on Apple computers and your Ethernet switch/router. If your home switch/router supports 10 Gbps (unlikely), you will probably want to go to a Cat 6e cable, though some sources suggest Cat 6 can support 10 Gbps.
