“Are these fused together or can they separated? I would like to plug the optical audio out from my TV in to an RCA-out converter, then plug these into studio monitor speakers about 10 feet or so apart. I need the cables to be able to separate.”

Yes, work great, I purchased a RCA to Optic converter due to my flat screen only has Optic out for sound and connected them to my Stereo receiver with the RCA cable and worked great.

The cables come fused together but are easily pulled apart without damage.

Yes, they can be separated. The wires are joined together but can be pulled apart as needed.
