only on your home wifi, won't work away from home, we were told to use a plug in storage but can only veiw on a computor.

If you do not have a storage plan in place (cloud or local) you will still be able to access the live view, two-way audio and receive motion notifications however nothing would record since you did not have a storage option in place.

If you do not wish to purchase a Blink Cloud Storage Plan to save motion clips you can use the sync module 2 and USB flash drive to save clips locally in your own home. A subscription is not required for local storage. Local USB storage via the sync module 2 will still be available for no charge. When using the local storage option only the clips are not stored in the cloud, but locally in your own home on the USB flash drive. You will still be able to access motion clips within the APP.
