Yeah the power from your wired doorbell will not power these. The blink doorbell will only operate on battery power and the wire is only to connect it to your existing doorbell "Chime" Having said that, maybe you need to adjust your settings as I've had mine now for 7 months and still have not had to change the battery despite having it record 8-10 30s clips per day on average.
