• It comes with 30days free trial cloud storage but You are not obligated to pay for the cloud subscription, if you have the sync module, you can insert a usb drive into the module to save your video clips locally.

• The video doorbell will work, but functionality is pretty basic. You get notifications when there's motion, and you can watch live video to see who's at the door. But without a subscription you cannot record motion or live video, and you cannot take photos. From my experience, this is pretty much the norm for video doorbells.
