• No but it puts itself into "event response" meaning that it only records motion or records when the button is pressed. This is because the doorbell at idle when just on battery isnt constantly connected to the internet for battery saving puropses. Features like live view is disabled untill you get a sync module and or wire it in.

• Hi there, To get the Doorbell onto your account it is strongly recommended that you have a sync module, but it is not required. This remains true for both the wired and wireless setup options for the doorbell.
