• When the camera is recording it actually shows a blue light and this can't be turned off as far as I can tell. But if this concerns you just put a little bit of electoral tape over it.

• The red light that you see is the IR illuminator. That is what allows the camera to see in the dark, If you cover that light, then infrared will not work, and your camera will not be able to see in the dark.
