It operates on two AA size lithium batteries. I have tested some on alkaline and it works but not recommended. 2 years is the advertised life of the batteries but the more it is used the shorter that can become. Using features built in to ignore movement of trees and things not of interest can help preserve battery. There is a portfolio powering using a USB charge - of course you then have to run wires to it and seal it for the weather (good options are available for both) . I got mine in a pinch because I was going out of town. They ran fine with alerts to my phone and full remote control. Long term I plan to build my own cameras using raspberry pi boards but if you are not a maker and don’t mind that blink is owned by Amazon and trust them with your video, then this is the best solution I have found for packaged cameras with easy install and rich features at a fair price.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Blink XT2 camera itself is battery operated however the sync module needed to operate the Blink camera would need to be plugged into a normal wall outlet at all times and within 100ft of the cameras in any direction.
