It does require a home WiFi network (modem, router, and an internet service provider). The cameras themselves connect to a sync module, and the sync module connects to your router in order to transmit all the data to the app which can be accessed from anywhere as long as you have a data connection.

Blink does currently require a 2.4ghz WiFi-based Internet connection to operate
