No. It will detect the stair/ledge, and turnaround.

It normally does not fall off the ledge but may fault out on occasions requiring u to move it and reset the alarm.

This vacuum steers clear of stairs and any other obstacles with the use of its detection sensors. For stairs in particular, the device has sensors underneath it. Hope this helps! I have 5 dogs and purchased the Pet Hair Plus. I highly recommend it!

It recognizes stairs. Mine has never fallen, but sometimes does get stuck on at the top of the stair and needs to be physically adjusted.
