The manufacturer suggests not putting the ice scoop in the ice tray to allow for more ice to be delivered. I found that I can get by with putting the scoop in the ice tray and that allows slightly more room in the rest of that compartment. I also placed a large-cube ice tray in that same ice storage tray and it also takes up some space. So I have slightly less ice capacity. But like you, this is not a problem for me. I get more than enough ice.
