We have the 800 Series with the recessed handle and front controls, and it is NOT app-controlled. My guess is that's only for the version with the controls on the top of the door where you can't see them while the dishwasher is closed and running.

This 800 Model does not have that capability. Model SHEM78WH5N is an 800 Series Dishwasher with Home Connect.
