Hi, thanks for your question and interest in model #NIT8060UC. The cooking zone will not automatically turn off as soon as cookware is removed. If you remove the cookware from the cooking zone during cooking, the residual heat indicator and the selected power level will flash alternately. This means that the cooking zone is trying to detect cookware. The zone will switch itself off if cookware is not placed back on the cooking zone within 30 seconds.
