• Normally, the center speaker only does midrange so you don't need anything big or expensive. Just buy one inexpensive speaker for this purpose.

• I've never seen a receiver that allows 2 speakers to be paired to create a center channel. That being said, I guess you COULD use one as a solo center channel, but then you're left with a random single speaker. There are better options for center channels.
