Yes, the Bose 161 speakers would function perfectly well as rear speakers. To use them with your Acoustimass 7, you would need to connect the 161s directly to your receiver’s rear/surround speaker connections. If you need further assistance setting this up, please call Product Support at 800-711-5772, Monday through Friday 8:30am to 10:00pm and Saturday 9:00am to 7:00pm EST. Mind you, the receiver will only pump out an "X" amout of power.. The Bose system is made specifically for the satellite speakers.. Good luck!
