I had the same question and demoed both. The 700 has a lot more power and has a larger driver so not only will the sound be a lot deeper, it will be a lot louder, so yes there is a difference in sound quality between the two. I have a small room about 12 feet by 12 so the 500 fits perfectly for me. If the room was any larger the 500 might struggle to fill it with sound. if you’re dealing with a large room like 18 meters, you’d certainly want the 700 and maybe even 2. i preferred the 700’s sound hands down to the 500, ( which is still a killer sub btw) i just didn’t go with it because i thought it would be overkill for my small room but after hearing both, there is certainly a huge difference how the 700 hits the low notes vs the 500.
