“I am looking to use these on a ship. Is the noise canceling so good I wont hear an alarm bell or an average PA system? Thanks”

Noise cancelling is good, but works best to stop constant frequencies and repetitive noises. I would certainly be careful, maybe test to make sure you can hear the bell or PA? If you have music playing, you could easily miss some other noises of course. It is actually easier to hear voices over the drone of a motor with noise cancelling. Pilots have them for radio communication in both small and large planes.
