Hello Hellonwheels, decreasing the bass as well as using the dialog mode should greatly improve the sound for you. To turn dialog mode on simply press the Dialog Mode button (http://bose.life/2eI7jNT) on the remote, the system status indicator blinks amber three times and then remains amber while in Dialog Mode.
