The speakers are meant to be on the go and work best when paired to a mobile device like a tablet, cell phone, or laptop. Assuming your desktop computer has a Bluetooth module that would allow it to pair to this unless you remain in Bluetooth range, your signal is going to degrade and ultimately drop the further you get away from the speaker. I will say that the range on this thing is pretty far because I have left my own cell phone in the basement and have taken the speaker upstairs without a signal dropping. There is an auxiliary 3.5 mm jack on the back of the unit so presupposing you can find an extremely long 3.5 to 3.5 mm audio cable you could plug one into your computers 3.5 mm headphone jack and plugged the other end into the back of the unit, and that way it would be hardwired to your computer as opposed to relying on the Bluetooth connection.
