“How come this system can no longer receive stations that are not on Tunein or iHeart? I use to be able enter URLs to get station programed. I think Bose changed their system by reducing what customers can listen to.”

If you are in the Soundtouch App (I have the Android version) go to "Settings" and there should be a link that says "Stream Custom URL" where you can enter in the URL for the audio stream you want to listen to, and assign it a name. I have not tried it but the feature still seems to be there.
