Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I am not familiar with an arc trainer but I have owned an elliptical and hated it. I could not get into the workout at all. So we sold it for a treadmill. I just got the M9 due to a hip issue from running and wanted to be able to change up the cardio routine. I would say it's a mix between a stair stepper and an elliptical. More of an up/down movement that is fluid like the feel of an elliptical. With it being more of a stair step feel, and bundle that with resistance, you can really push the heart rate in a short amount of time (at least for me it does). I like that because the workouts can be shorter if you want them to be. It also doesn't hurt my hip because its low-to-no impact at all like running is.
