Does the magnet have any negative effect on phone operation/storage? Since magnets erase data on computers, I can't imagine that this is good for a phone.

Magnets do not have any effect on the solid-state materials within the phone; namely silicone.

I think you are referring to the older type of data storage that was kept on magnetic media. Remember the floppy disk? It was just easier to read and write on that stuff back then. Hard drives, although shielded, are still susceptible to a strong magnetic field. No magnetic media is on the phone.

This phone-mount is the best I've ever had. I even bought one for my friend.

That was a concern of mine, too, but when I bought the product, I found that you either attach the included metal plate to the back of your phone, or you slip the plate inside your case. So the magnet is not in direct contact with your phone. The magnetic field in the mount itself has had no noticeable effect on my phone.

No it has not affected my iPhone 6 plus. The magnet does take up room between my phone and case.

I've had this for a little over a month and haven't had any issue with my operating system or anything else for that matter. I have used this with an iPhone 5s if that helps

I have owned two of these dash mounts and used it with a Samsung S3 and a Samsung note 4 without any problems.

No...I have an LG Vigor and my phone and portable DVD have been placed on the docking station while the magnet has been placed in the phone case or taped to the DVD and there have been no issues.

I looking to buy a few more as gifts.

Good question,I was a little worried about this too. But I leave my phone on this mount for 6 to 8 hours at a time and I have had no issues with my Samsung note 4 losing any memory or adverse reaction.
