• Yes you do need both magnets. My iPhone is heavy and with both magnets it doesn’t move.

• I've been disappointed with the magnet that attaches to the bracket. One has already fell off and is useless. I'm now waiting on the spare magnet to fall off. I shouldn't have to be worried about the bracket becoming useless for the amount I paid
