You can set it to froth as much as you like. I have always gotten a good amount of froth but only use just a little milk. I think if you use too much milk you get hot milk on the bottom but still a good amount of froth on top. My daughter froths it twice because who doesn't love froth! So to answer your question, you do get a lot of froth with this machine but if you like it extra dry, spoon the froth off the top to avoid any hot milk in the bottom.
